[ Food in Stockholm ]
Foodies here we go, Stockholm is almost a heaven for Foodies like us. Food, but especially amazing food is to be found everywhere in the city ^_^
Well as i mentioned before Swedish people do have very good taste in food, pure, healthy & organic food. Although most of the traditional food is not spicy enough ( i know i am addicted to spicy food) i do love the pastries and pies that they make. Ohhhh, i can have deserts, cakes, candy & pies whole day long in Sweden, admitting to the fact that i am almost drooling by the idea of eating a Kanelbulle (cinnamon bun) or a very nice lincoln berry pie.
Okay on topic again, i was on a mission in Sweden, i wanted to buy Violet Essence, since i have a few recipes i want to make which use this specific flowery essence. So when we visited Pärlans for some amazing Caramels with flavours from liquorice, lemon, almond, vanilla & many more. I was happily surprise to see that they had a violet flavoured caramel, making me super excited. Violet flavour, this will definitely lead me closer to violet essence. Almost falling over my own words, i ask the question: ” Where do you guys buy the essence for this flavour ^_^, if i may ask?”. Then the lovely girl in the store (they all look so amazing in their vintage clothing) wrote down the address to an Essence store in Stockholm. Happy and chewing on the delicious violet candy, i was on the right path to complete my mission.
On our way to the Stockholms Aeter & Essencefabrik, i was already making a wish list in my mind. So when we arrived in this store that is owned by 3th generation of the family, it felt like stepping back in time. The shop’s interior reminded me of the 1920’s, a very personal setting & so this meant the beginning of a treasure hunt. 30 minutes later i left the store with a range of special essences, some bourbon vanilla beans, a bunch of saffron threads & some new exciting spices. Happy but above all excited to cook with the violet Essence, so stay posted for some Macarons with violet flavour.
